Waxing is a hair removal method that uses wax to remove the hair.
Waxing can be done on almost every part of the body: eyebrows, face, legs, arms, back, abdomen, bikini area and feet.
There are several different types of wax:
Hard wax is applied then allowed to cool and harden. Once cool to the touch it is pulled off in the opposite direction of hair growth. This type of wax is used in small or sensitive areas such as the bikini line and armpits.
Soft wax, also called strip wax, is the consistency of honey when heated. It is applied by spreading a thin layer across the skin. A paper strip or cloth is then applied and pressed onto the wax. It is then pulled off in the opposite direction of hair growth. When the strip is removed, the hair comes of with it. It is mostly used on large areas such as legs and back.
The results can last approximately 4 weeks on average, but for some individuals regrowth can show after 2 weeks.
Your hair should be about 1/4 inch or 6mm long to achieve best results from your waxing treatment.
Washing the area before the treatment helps open up the pores and minimise ingrowing hairs.
Avoid applying body lotions and oils on the area, this may interfere with the waxing.
There are some areas that can be more sensitive to pain. Some people choose to take painkillers or numbing cream before the treatment. Best seek the advice of your pharmacist of which product would be suitable for you.
If you are using any special products on your skin, particularly the face, do not forget to mention it to your therapist before your waxing treatment.
After treatment, it is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure for 48hrs.
